Union County deputies said an Arizona woman accused of stealing from an elderly man while serving as his caretaker is now behind bars in Union County. Deputies said they began investigating in September 2017 after the 78-year-old victim’s grandson filed a report, claiming Mary Frances Lewis Watkins had fraudulently used the victim’s banking accounts and defrauded him in other ways.

Crews are responding to a fatal accident involving a vehicle and pedestrian in North Charleston. A vehicle slid off of Ladson Road and fatally struck a pedestrian, according to North Charleston city spokesman Ryan Johnson. It happened on Ladson Road at Jamison Road.

Crews responded to a home fire on Johns Island Thursday morning. St. Johns fire confirmed they were working a structure fire in the 2800 block of River Road at 2:57 a.m. Officials with the fire department confirmed the Red Cross is helping 13 people including nine children who were all able to make it out.
The coroner was called to a house fire where one person is dead, the Anderson County Coroner’s Office said. The house fire was reported on Shawnee Avenue in Anderson County near the Homeland Park area, dispatch said.
Crews responded to a residential fire in Spartanburg County Wednesday night, per dispatchers. The Durham Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred Tuesday night about 9:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Old Fayetteville St. A 35-year-old woman and a 39-year-old man were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

An Upstate police chief is accused of firing a gun at his family pet during a domestic incident, according to a police report. A Greenwood man called police at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday and said that his daughter, who is married to Ware Shoals police chief Terry Allen Carpenter, had called him, crying saying her 44-year-old husband had pulled a gun on her. The woman’s father told her to come to his house with her three children.

The Columbia Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a gas station and market in downtown Columbia. The Columbia Police Department sent a tweet saying the Exxon Express Market at 1027 Elmwood Avenue was the site of an armed robbery around 11 pm Saturday night.
The Lexington County Coroner has released the name of a person killed in a two car collision in Chapin Saturday night. Coroner Margaret Fisher said 82-year-old Nelva S. Lindler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richland deputies are investigating after blood was found at a Columbia bar early Friday morning. Investigators say they were called to Darrell's Place just after 4 am after reports of gunshots and one person hit. Deputies say when they got to the bar, they did not find any victims or suspects.
Almost three weeks after they were discovered, the Greenwood County coroner has identified remains found inside a burning car. Firefighters found the remains on Dec. 8 about 9 p.m. in a burning car along Hastings Road in Ninety Six, Coroner Sonny Cox said.

Marchbanks was wanted for a December 2 shooting on Monaghan Avenue that sent two people to the hospital, deputies say.
