A Murrells Inlet man is charged with unlawful neglect of a child after he reportedly overdosed in a car with a 3-year-old child, according to a police report. George Fredrick McClain, 31, of Murrells Inlet, was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center Sunday evening, according to online booking records.

Antonio Brown, 31, passed away in the intensive care unit of an area hospital on March 22 following his accident with another vehicle at the intersection of Highway 176 and Cobblestone Village Drive in Goose Creek, according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury.

Deputies are searching for a man who attempted to steal a car on Sunday night and then got in a shootout with a homeowner, according to Greenville County deputies. The attempted carjacking happened at 11 p.m. in the 2400 block of State Park Road, deputies said.
One person is behind bars after they allegedly shot and injured a person Sunday night, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. The shooting happened on the 200 block of Meredith Sq. near Decker Blvd around 11:40 p.m.

Deputies in South Carolina said it took a man more than four hours to surrender to deputies following a standoff in Lexington County. It happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the Red Roof Inn on Berryhill Road. Deputies had received a tip that 29-year-old James Slaton was staying there. He was wanted on a grand larceny arrest warrant out of York County.
The Hampton County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is currently investigating a triple homicide that took place in the early morning hours of 3/25/18 at 148 Priscilla Lane in Varnville. A former Orangeburg County deputy sheriff is facing charges. Kip Nelson, 36, is charged with misconduct in office. He sent pornographic and sexually suggestive photographs of himself to women involved with criminal investigations, according to the affidavit provided by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division. He also solicited sexual acts from them, the affidavit said.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office has one suspect in custody after a deputy-involved shooting Thursday morning. Ricky DeWayne Johnson, 32, has been apprehended, according to BCSO spokesman Mike Cochran. Highway 17A by College Park Road is closed because of an officer-involved shooting relating to the apprehension of Johnson, Cochran said.
